Love the Book, Love the Author

Posted by T.S.Garp

Books are like people, like some old friend, comfortable and familiar, you already know their story, and yet you want to hear it again and again, books that take you away to far away places, enlightening you with new concepts, ideas, emotions, drama, humor, and the adventure of life, played out in a real or imagined reality - T.S.Garp

The Jabberwocky Journal

Posted by T.S.Garp

What does the new Jabberwocky Odyssey Journal have? A more subtle, a more sublime, and more earthy writer’s website feel to it (one hopes). This is a companion journal to the one on my Author's website (tsgarpbooks.com), but Jabberwocky Odyssey caters more to the writer's lifestyle and other up-and-coming writers by providing useful insights, articles, postings, events, and helpful links to be more creative. I'll be working on fixing links, adding more information, and making this a writer's friendly blog with tips, tools, and thoughts on writing the best we can - T.S.Garp

Penguin And Author Solutions Sued For Deceptive Practices

Posted by T.S.Garp

Three authors have begun a federal class action suit against Penguin and its self-publishing services provider, Author Solutions, seeking damages of more than $5 mn. Says Publishers Weekly: The suit, which seeks class action status, alleges that Author Solutions misrepresents itself, luring authors in with claims that its books can compete with “traditional publishers,” offering “greater speed, higher royalties, and more control for its authors.” The company then profits from “fraudulent” practices.....* Read the whole stroy at Forbes.com

Great Place For Sci-Fi Book Reviews

Posted by T.S.Garp

If you love a good sci-fi book in your hands, than I suggest checking out this web site for their excellent Sci-fi reviews on new and classic books from authors like Philip K Dick, Arthur C Clarke, Philip Jose Farmer, Joe Haldeman, Roger Zelazny, Frederik Pohl, Kurt Vonnegut, Richard Matheson, and Harlan Ellison. Plus, reviews on Fantasy and Horror novels listed on pages of SFBook.com. If you ever forgot the name of that book you have been trying to find or read it might be on the web site’s extensive list. Kind of cool!

Writer Unboxed

Posted by T.S.Garp

Another Jabberwocky rant. I stumbled upon this web site via Twitter and looks interesting. “Writer Unboxed” about the craft and business of writing fiction. What caught my eye was the Publicize and Promote Your Book advice. But look around, the site was created by 2 aspiring novelist. This web site is great for tips and writers trying to break into the publishing world. I recommend this site for all aspiring authors and writers.

Feeling Like You Missed The Boat On Becoming A Novelist?

Posted by T.S.Garp

Someone asked is it too late to become a novelist? Its never too late, anytime is a good time to become a writer. Yes, the market is changing to more e-books, but books can never die in popularity. Before the age of books, stories and information were passed on by oral tradition. Stony tablets and than paper manuscripts came into existence and a good book can last hundreds, if not thousands of years, and still hold up with rich and valuable information. Our computer age has only made it easier and faster to publish books and general information. There will always be a need for good writers, and books have a very long shelf life and can't breakdown so easily nor be deleted unexpectedly. A good tip is: plan to write your book or novel using both methods for publication. Learn from other writers, read as much as you can, take a writing workshop, join a community of new writers and start writing today! Good luck!- T.S.Garp

Cleaning the Warehouse of My Mind

Posted by T.S.Garp

When the past is the present and the present is the future. I’ve been so busy lately trying to do the very thing I suggested in my articles not to do which is multitasking. Having set my goals and agendas high, breaking the steady repetition of the past and venturing out on new ground (more like embarking on a journey I started many years ago, but somehow had gotten sidetracked), and now presently I’m consumed with various projects which has resulted in neglecting my personal Blog sites.

All my Blogs are getting a maintenance work over and reorganization face-lift. Since I began starting a new company with primarily focusing on photography and writing, I have decided to pursue more book writing projects as well and extend my focus on publishing my works of fiction, poetry, and assorted screenplays to completion. This will impact my writing articles and I have realized just like so many other writers that if you have these particular goals or aspirations like selling a script or finishing up novels, and publishing your manuscripts, it is time to stop procrastinating, and complete these goals and have them fulfilled. There is no time like the present and in the present we make the future. I’ve been living with the old adage “Never put off tomorrow what you can do today“ and never forget your dreams, never lose sight of them, never shut them away, or in time you would loose them, and they will fade away completely.

Several friends of mine used to say, “It is never too late. Never give up.” I totally agree. And never stop dreaming, I say. This present and each moment in this present time is creating the future as we want it to be. I know it is very hard for unsolicited writers or first-time writers to get published, but you might start think about self-publishing as a way to get a jumpstart on your first book. Also seek out publishing companies that have a reputation of being friendly to new writers and novelists. Be your own agent or obtain one through these methods. Read up on the chosen craft that you want to pursue in like writing screenplays and publishing poetry, or any other particular subject that you want to accomplish and succeed in. This particular Blog is geared towards writers and positive thinkers who want to fulfill their lifelong dreams. For all the dreamers out there and writers, poets, novelists, screenwriters, filmmakers, and visual artists, never lose sight of those dreams, and keep working at it, even if you get delayed or diverted, keep pursuing that aim and never stop trying. Your efforts will not be in vain, I guarantee it. Live life to the fullest!
